I signed up with GlobalTestMarket (GTM) in 2008 as part of a little experiment I was doing to see which survey companies were legitimate or a total scam. What I quickly found out was that there weren’t too many I could sign up to or if there were ones I could sign up to I very rarely got opportunities from them to take part in surveys. That seems to be mainly because of my geographical location.
Out of all the survey companies I have signed up to, the one that has sent me surveys to take part in on a somewhat regular basis has been GTM. They usually email through three to four surveys per month which I usually attend to at the end of the day when I don’t feel like doing anything too taxing on my brain. It take a few minutes to get through most of their surveys but there are some that take a bit longer than a few minutes to complete but have higher payouts.
As a member, you are awarded MarketPoints for each survey completed and the number of points awarded depends on the type of survey and the length of time it will take to complete it. On average, I was earning about 35-50 points per survey and the highest I earned was about 110. MarketPoints can then be redeemed for cash with 1000 being the minimum amount required for redemption. MarketPoints are fixed against the U.S. Dollar at five cents ($0.05) per MarketPoint. It took me just over a year for me to reach the 1000 point mark and get paid out for the surveys I completed.
Do I think they are a scam or not?
From my experience with them, they seem to be a legitimate company that does pay out for completing surveys.
It took a bit of while for the cheque to arrive but it did eventually get here. As far as customer service goes, I have had a couple of issues with them where points went missing but a customer service representative did get back to me within a couple of days and rectified all the issues.
It may have taken a bit of while for me to reach the payout minimum but if you live in North America for example you may get more surveys on a much more regular basis than I did and reach the payout minimum quickly. One good thing is that depending on where you live they will pay you in your local currency but if they can’t print out a cheque in your local currency you will send you a U.S. dollar cheque. If they were a scam I would not have been paid out or received as much help as I did from their customer service representatives.
If you are someone who likes taking part in surveys and you haven’t already signed up to GlobalTestMarket it may pay to do so.
My husband swears by his Global Test Market account. I would get one, too, but they are very strict about the “One Account Per Household” rule.
They say it takes up to 6 weeks to get a check and the earliest we’ve seen one arrive is 5 weeks.
If you like taking surveys, you might as well take the ones that pay!
@ Edie – it sounds like your husband is a really big fan of GlobalTestMarket. It does suck a bit though that you can only have one account per household. I hope he shares the spoils with you though. See you around.
Hi Gerri, Thanks for the update and info on Global Test Market, it’s good to hear a review before jumping into a new survey company. I’ll admit that at first I thought some of the survey companies that I started with were great and now not top on my list. I think I may try this one out through you and am also thinking maybe another review is warranted for the survey co.s that I did start out with. thanks for info. jj
@ jj – There are a lot of survey companies out there that are not worth your while but I hope you find GlobalTestMarket worth it. Please do come back in a little while and let me know how things go with them.
