Cyber Monday falls on the first Monday after Black Friday which for this year is on 2 December, 2013. It is a shopping event where instead of rushing into brick and mortar stalls as is traditionally done on Black Friday, consumers turn to the internet to take advantage of huge discounts being offered by a range of retailers.
As big as it is, this online shopping event is just about non-existent in NZ and only a small percentage of Kiwis would be bothered about taking advantage of the deals on offer overseas. This year however, about 70 New Zealand retailers have banded together to create a similar event dubbed Click Monday for Kiwi consumers.
Click Monday which doesn’t quite coincide with Cyber Monday is set to go live on November 25 at 7pm and will be open for 24 hours. On the day, ClickMonday.co.nz will feature bargains being offered by participating retailers where shoppers can then click through to retailer websites to complete their purchases.
Retailers taking part in the online shopping event include Barkers, PB Tech, Countdown, Kathmandu, Wallace Cotton, Nicholas Jermyn, Nappies Direct, Wild Pair, Icebreaker, Toyworld, Smith & Caughey, Grabone, Fishpond, R&R Sport and Hannahs just to name a few.
Apart from a couple of “sneak peak offer” updates on their Facebook page, there really isn’t much of a indication on what kind of discounts to expect. Kiwis will have to wait until the 25th to see if whats on offer is worth their while.
